This article contains specific information on how to import and export DICOM data to and from your TPS. We include instructions for Eclipse, Pinnacle, Monaco, and CyberKnife. If you don't see your treatment planning system listed here or if the instructions do not work for you, please reach out to your TPS vendor directly for support.

Eclipse

Import

  1. Choose File, Import, and then Wizard...
  2. Choose DICOM Media File Import Filter.
  3. Select the directory corresponding to the data set using the Change Directory... button.
  4. Select the DICOM images and structure set from the list, and click Next.
  5. Click New.
  6. You may fill in demographic information or click the OK button.
  7. Click Next.

You are now ready to begin planning.

Export

  1. Select File, Export, and then Wizard...
  2. Select Plan and then Next.
  3. Select Total Plan Dose, and then click Next.
  4. Click Next again.
  5. Select File Media Export Filter, and then click Next.
  6. Click Yes.
  7. Click Change for All Objects. Browse to a directory, and then click the Finish button.

You are now ready to upload the RT Plan and RT Dose file to ProKnowSystems.com.

Pinnacle

Import

  1. The user may have to use an FTP client to transfer DICOM files from the Windows computer to Pinnacle and from Pinnacle back to Windows.
  2. The DICOM files must be transferred to /autoDataSets/DICOM.
  3. Import the CT Images using Import CT.
  4. Once imported, create a plan and then import the structure set.

You are now ready to begin planning.

Export

  1. Select File, and then select Export.
  2. Choose for the Destination AE Title: ADACRTP_SCP.
  3. Select RT Plan and RT Dose for transmission.
  4. A box may appear that says, "The Plan is not locked yet. Ok to Continue?" Chose Yes.
  5. The files will be transmitted to the folder /autoDataSets/DICOM or to /files/network/DICOM.
  6. Use your FTP client to transfer the RT Plan and RT Dose files from Pinnacle to the Windows Computer.

You are now ready to upload the RT Plan and RT Dose file to ProKnowSystems.com.

Monaco

Import

  1. Click the Import New Data button on the Patient Selection dialog box.
  2. Click the Browse button to search your network for the DICOM patient you want to import.
  3. Select the loaded patient from the DICOM Patient drop-down list.
  4. Left click on the data you would like to import.
  5. Select a local installation and clinic where you want this imported data to reside.
  6. Monaco automatically shows a patient ID and patient name based on the DICOM header information, or you can enter a new patient ID and name.
  7. Click the Add button to add the selected data to the import.

You are now ready to begin planning.

Export

  1. Click the Output tab.
  2. Click DICOM Export to show the DICOM Export dialog box.
  3. On the left select RT Plan and Total Dose.
  4. On the right select a destination where you can ind the plan and dose file easily.

You are now ready to upload the RT Plan and RT Dose file to ProKnowSystems.com.

CyberKnife Multiplan

Import

  1. Import the dataset into MultiPlan.
  2. In the Image Review and Import list you will see the CT and structure set.
  3. Highlight the CT dataset and click the Import icon. Note that the CT MUST be imported before the structure set.
  4. Associate the CT with a new patient and make sure the A, P, Rt and Lt orientations match the system. If everything matches, click the Import DICOM series icon.
  5. Select Patient under Type in the Create New Patient screen. Note that you do NOT need to import the structure set separately as it is already associated with the CT dataset and imports automatically after the CT is imported.
  6. Go the home screen, and select New Plan.
  7. Highlight the patient from the list and click Standard Plan, and click Next.
  8. Highlight the CT in the top list, and click Select Exam (CT will move from the top list to the bottom).
  9. Once the CT is at the bottom, highlight the structure set, and then click Select Exam (structure set will move from the top list to the bottom).
  10. Once the CT and structure set are at the bottom, click the Finish button. Note: Do NOT click the Next button. If you accidentally click Next, click Previous to return to the previous screen, and click Finish.

You are now ready to begin planning.
